Stamford Bridge side chase Old Trafford bench warmer.

Check in to Mexico vs Cameroon

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is ready to conduct wholesale changes to his Blues attack and will look to bring in Man United bit-part player Javier Hernandez to act as understudy to Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.

CaughtOffside understands that the Stamford Bridge side will make Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Romelu Lukaku available for permanent exits this summer as Mourinho continues to fund new signings with sums accrued from player sales as he adopts a sensible approach to his squad building plans.

Mourinho is confident he can tempt 26 year old Hernandez to move to west London with the promise of a better shot as regular first team football than he currently enjoys at Old Trafford, where Chicharito is now behind Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in the club’s pecking order.

Man United chief executive Ed Woodward has apparently cleared the way for talks between Hernandez and Chelsea as he looks to cash in on the Guadalajara born ace with the club having no qualms about selling to a Premier League rival, so long as they are the highest bidders.

Hernandez has struggled to retain a foot-hold in the Man United starting eleven, making just six Premier League starts last season, however the Mexican international has a very healthy strike rate when called upon.

Since his move to Man United in July 2010 Hernandez has scored 59 goals in 152 appearances, of which 69 were from the bench.

Chelsea are willing to offer £14m for Hernandez, an offer that may trump bids from the likes of Juventus and Atletico Madrid, who are both said to be keen on landing the Man United marksman.
