The Mirror report that Los Merengues are hoping to finalise a deal to bring the 18-year-old to the Bernabeu later this week, and are understood to be ‘deep in talks’ with the Argentine giants as they look to thrash out terms on a deal understood to be nearly £10 million [as per the same source].
The tabloid note that the teenage midfielder has been tipped to become one of the world’s finest in his position, and report that another European giant—Juventus—have already attempted to bring the starlet across the Atlantic.
The Mirror note that the Old Lady—who have enjoyed the services of world-class Argentine players such as Luis Monti, Omar Sivori and Raimundo Orsi during their history—sought to bring Bentacur to the club during the summer as part of the deal that took Carlos Tevez back to Boca.
However, the Buenos Aires heavyweights refused to allow the midfielder to be offloaded as part of the deal.
It remains to be seen whether, in light of Real’s intense interest in the player, the reigning Italian champions will once again look to move for Bentacur.
Should Bentacur complete his move to Real, he will likely join the giants’ glittering Castilla team alongside the likes of Martin Odegaard, Enzo Zidane and Borja Mayoral.
