The Sun are reporting that Chelsea are interested in signing Olympic Marseille central defender Boubacar Kamara.
Antonio Conte must know he needs reinforcements at centre-back, where Gary Cahill, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic all seem to be approaching the end of the road at the same time.
The 16-year-old Kamara, who captains the south French side’s youth team, has just made his first appearance for the French under 18s. He does not yet have a professional contract, despite Marseille’s best efforts, meaning that Chelsea could take the player for nothing, although they will have to beat off interest from PSG, who the Sun also report are sniffing around Kamara’s availability.
Chelsea have a good record with young centre-backs, with both Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen proving to be excellent additions in recent years. Kamara would be another long-term project similar to Christensen, and Chelsea can only hope that he develops at the same rate as the Dane, who is earning rave reviews for Borussia Monchengladbach.
