Russian side hoping to secure services of Gabonese forward.
Wealthy Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are hoping to secure a deal for St Etienne’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang according to Sport24.
The Gabonese forward set Ligue 1 alight last season after hitting the back of the net nineteen times for St Etienne.
His performances have not gone unnoticed with a number of top European sides thought to be monitoring his availability.
The likes of Fiorentina, AC Milan, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with the player’s services over the last few months but it appears that Anzhi have stolen a march on their rivals in the race for the player’s signature.
It is understood that Anzhi are hoping to flex their financial muscle by offering a highly lucrative package to both club and player.
The Russian club are understood to be ready to offer a fee in the region of £21 million for the player, who not long ago expressed his belief that St Etienne would be tempted into selling with a bid of just £12 million.
That could persuade other clubs to stay out of the bidding and pave the way for the mouth-watering prospect of Aubameyang forming an attacking trio with Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o and Ivorian forward Lacina Traore.
