Attacking duo complete The Greens Foreign Quota

Dave Booth’s side, who were the 2011 I-League Champions have signed Ivorian attacker Claude Gnakpa and Scottish striker Darryl Duffy.

Duffy,29, is a former Falkirk, Swansea and Bristol Rovers player, while Gnapka rose through the youth ranks at Montpellier and came to Salgaocar from the Iraqi Premier League side Al-Minaa.

They join Nigerian Chika Wali and Japanese midfielder Seiji Saito as the club’s other two foreign signings.

Speaking to Goal India Gnakpa gave his views on the other foreign players and on a possible partnership with Darryl Duffy: ” Since my arrival, I have been welcomed,Chika [Wali] is a good guy, very involved. I’ve not met [Seiji] Saito but I’ve heard he’s a good player, delivers good passes and is good with the ball, which is important since I’m a striker.

“As for Darryl [Duffy], he’s great and we gel really well. I hope to play alongside him.”

Speaking to Zee News Duffy was keen to point out the benefits of playing for Salgoacar: ” The coach is doing a lot of things for us, inculcating good sleeping patterns, eating habits. The training system is mostly the same. The players are a friendly bunch, they`re really nice and I`m looking forward to playing with them.”
