Youngster to Join Red Lizards

Calum Angus is set to join I- League runners up Pune FC.

The 27-year-old defender has spend the last three years in the Swedish Allsvenskan for Gothenburg based side GAIM.

After failing to gain a professional contract with the then Premier League side Portsmouth in 2004, Angus then made the move to The States where he played college football.

He spent a short time with USL Professional Division side Wilmington Hammerheads.

Speaking to Expressen, Angus said: “I’m excited by the move. It’s a good opportunity when they play in the Asian Cup. It is sad to leave Gais. We have played well this year and it had been fun to help the club up in the headlines”

“It was a very difficult decision, but it’s good money in India. I am 27 years old and need to make some money. It will be an adventure.

“I have heard that the quality of football is good.”

Angus will replace the departed Nigerian Chika Wali who has chosen to continue his career with Salgoacar, the Greens finished 6th in last year’s I-League.

Pune completed thier line up for this season with the signing of former Mumbai Tigers keeper Arup Debnath.
