Striker is ready to prove his worth

After a poor season with Mohun Bagan, Dipendu Biswas is ready to showcase his talent again in the I-League this season.

The 31-year-old has signed a contract with Mohammedan Sporting for the 2013/14 season and is looking forward to the new campaign.

The striker, who has over 200 league goals to his name and has captained the national side at both Senior and U21 Level, wants to repay the faith that Sporting Coach Abdul Aziz has shown in him.

Speaking to The Telegraph, according to Goal India he said: “I didn’t get to play much for Mohun Bagan last season… It’s not that I was unfit, it wasn’t my fault. In fact, I have been practising with my local club regularly for the last few days to maintain my fitness.

“I believe I’m still capable as a footballer and I’m honoured that Mohammedan Sporting has kept faith in me this season.”

The striker was also satisfied with the way pre-season training was being handled at the club.

“The coach’s pre-season training appears to be quite good. Every coach has his own style and so it is not fair comparing one with the other.”

Sporting, one of the oldest clubs in India, return to the I-League after winning the I-League 2nd divsion.
