Premier League leaders Arsenal still hope to be able to persuade La Liga giants Real Madrid to loan them young front man Alvaro Morata during the January transfer window, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The north London club have been tracking the highly rated Spain Under-21 international for the past few weeks now as Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger ponders whether to bring another striker to the Emirates this month.
As despite sitting top of the Premier League at the halfway point of the campaign, Arsenal have recently suffered a spate of untimely injuries to some of their key forward players, including the likes of in-form France international Olivier Giroud, back-up forward Nicklas Bendtner and now also Theo Walcott too, with the Englishman set to miss the rest of the season with a knee problem.
And with the experienced French coach now left with just Lukas Podolski up front, the north Londoners have decided to enter the transfer market after all this month, with Wenger’s preferred choice being a six-month loan deal for Morata.
However, if los Blancos continue to resist Arsenal’s advances, then it is understood the Gunners will instead be forced to seek a permanent transfer for either Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko or Atletico de Madrid’s Diego Costa instead.
