Today is Non-League Day, a day dedicated to promoting non-league football up and down the country. So while we are stranded in the depths of the international break, why not go down and see your local team – who will definitely appreciate the support.

There are plenty of excellent players on show in the lower tiers of English football, here are just ten names that are worth looking out for at a ground near you:

10) Josh Payne (Woking)

A combative midfield playmaker who played twice in the Premier League for West Ham United.

9) Richard Peniket (FC Halifax)

An exciting young striker who was once a part of Fulham’s academy setup.

8) Scott Boden (FC Halifax)

Experienced player, despite being only 24, who has played over 100 league games for Chesterfield.

7) Louis Moult (Wrexham)

A prolific non-league striker who scored 17 times for Nuneaton last season before making the switch to Wrexham.

2) Lee Cook (Barnet)

A vastly experienced midfielder formerly of Queens Park Rangers. He has scored six goals in his first six games for Barnet.

Scored the goal that saw non-league Luton past Premier League Norwich in the FA Cup two years ago. Now at Woking, he has scored seven goals already this season, including four in one game against Dover Athletic.
