West Brom began the day at the bottom of the Premier League table, while Spurs were hoping for a victory to return them to the top four.

However, James Morrison’s 75th-minute goal gave the Baggies a deserved three points at White Hart Lane, where Spurs were loudly booed off at full time.

Here’s how Mauricio Pochettino’s men rated on a dark day for Tottenham…

Goalkeeper: Hugo Lloris – 7/10

Distribution could have been better, but he made a three decent saves

Right-back: Eric Dier – 5/10

Dier had more touches of the ball than any other player on the pitch, but he played too many long balls and failed to find a Spurs man with any of his three crosses.

Left-back: Danny Rose – 6/10

Rose was involved in a lot of today’s action, making three tackles and frequently bombing forward. Full of effort, but a little short in terms of quality.

Centre-back: Vlad Chiriches – 4/10

Difficult to understand what Pochettino sees in Chiriches. His teammates looked nervous whenever the ball went near him. Just why was Jan Vertonghen left on the bench?

Centre-back: Younes Kaboul – 6/10

Did alright on his first start since being officially named as club captain, especially considering he had to do the work of two defenders, due to the ineptitude of Chiriches.

Midfield: Etienne Capoue – 7/10

Solid and very responsible defensively. Offered little going forward, but that’s not really in his job description.

Midfield: Mousa Dembele – 5/10

Seemed to coast through the game, before being replaced by Paulinho on the hour mark. The Belgium international must work harder to stamp his authority on games.

Attacking midfield: Christian Eriksen – 5/10

Who? Eriksen was Tottenham’s main man last season and most of their attacks went through him, but, since Erik Lamela has been brought into the team, the Dane seems to be shrinking. He needs to step up!

Attacking midfield: Erik Lamela – 6/10

Lamela looked the most likely Spurs player to make something happen, but his dazzling dribbles were few and far between.

Attacking midfield: Nacer Chadli – 6/10

Worked hard, but had little effect on the game, before coming off for Roberto Soldado, who had Tottenham’s first shot on target on 72 minutes!

Forward: Emmanuel Adebayor – 4/10

Ineffectual and lost too many aerial battles against West Brom’s centre-backs. When he’s good, he’s great. Today, he was very close to awful.

Subs:

Paulinho – 5/10

Roberto Soldado – 6/10

Aaron Lennon – 6/10
