GK) Fraser Forster (Southampton)

A superb summer signing from Celtic, Fraser Forster has performed excellently for Southampton so far, helping Ronald Koeman’s new-look side to a strong start to the campaign after losing so many big-name players over the summer. The England international has only conceded three goals in five games so far, and has stood out as the best in the league in his position.

Chelsea news

DR) Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)

An ever-reliable performer for Chelsea, Serbian right-back Branislav Ivanovic has continued to show himself to be an excellent defender and contributor going forward, helping himself to two goals already from the back as part of his energetic all-action performances.

DL) Alberto Moreno (Liverpool)

Although Liverpool have not made the most convincing start to the season with three defeats already and some unsteady performances at the back, there’s no doubt that their young Spanish lef-back looks a superb signing after some impressive individual displays. The 22-year-old scored a memorable solo goal to seal a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane, showcasing his tremendous attacking potential.

DC) Ashley Williams (Swansea City)

Helping Swansea City to a superb start, Ashley Williams has been a rock at the baxck for Garry Monk’s team. The Swans skipper has been one of the most solid and consistent centre-backs in the Premier League over the last couple of years and continues to impress, helping the Welsh side to three wins in their first five games, with just two goals conceded outside of an unfortunate 4-2 defeat at the hands of league leaders and title favourites Chelsea.

DC) Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur)

An exciting young defender, Eric Dier has made quite an impression already in the Premier League after joining Tottenham Hotspur from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. The talented 20-year-old has settled in quickly in his native England after developing abroad, and scored two goals in his first two games to announce himself at White Hart Lane.

MC) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

Linked with a move away from Southampton for so much of the summer, Morgan Schneiderlin ended up staying at the St Mary’s Stadium and is now playing better than ever. The French international has an impressive three goals to his name already from his defensive midfield position, and should continue to establish himself as one of the best in the Premier League in his position.

MC) Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)

Undoubtedly one of the signings of the summer, Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has been a big hit at Stamford Bridge, providing an impressive six assists in just five games to help Jose Mourinho’s side top the Premier League table. As the games go by it is harder to see why Barcelona possibly let the former Arsenal man go, as he continues to look simply world class on the ball, with a killer end product as good as any midfielder in the world.

MR) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

A highly exciting player, Alexis Sanchez has made a good start to life in the Premier League with Arsenal, scoring two goals in four starts so far, including an early contender for goal of the season with a sublime volley against champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium. The Chilean also has one assist and generally looks a quality addition to the Gunners team and English football as a whole.

ML) Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)

Although he has only played three games, Angel Di Maria has already made quite an impression with two superb goals for Manchester United. The classy Argentine was unlucky to be on the losing side for the Red Devils as their defence fell apart against Leicester City late on, when he’d given the team a 2-0 lead with a glorious chip over the onrushing goalkeeper. The 26-year-old is undoubtedly world class and it is exciting to see more from him as the season goes on.

FC) Diego Costa (Chelsea)

The Premier League’s leading scorer with an incredible seven goals in just five games, there can be no questioning that Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been one of the contenders for player of the season so far. The Spanish international looks a bargain at £32m after moving to Stamford Bridge from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, and his goals could now help Jose Mourinho’s side to the title in England this term.

FC) Leonardo Ulloa (Leicester City)

A surprise second in the Premier League scoring charts at the moment, Leonardo Ulloa has been a revelation for newly-promoted Leicester City, scoring twice in yesterday’s amazing 5-3 win over Manchester United, and also netting in other big games against Arsenal and in a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Stoke City. The 28-year-old Argentine could prove crucial to keeping the Foxes up and deserves his place in the team of the season so far.
