Simon Mignolet – 6.5/10

Not the busiest afternoon for the Liverpool goalkeeper, but made some decent saves when called upon against the Toffees, though he could do nothing about the cracking goal from Phil Jagielka.

Javi Manquillo – 6.5/10

A lively performance from the youngster, particularly going forward, though he also kept things tight in a decent defensive display.

Alberto Moreno – 7/10

Plenty of promising runs forward make Alberto Moreno one of the top performers in this game, and the Spaniard continues to look a top signing by the club.

Dejan Lovren – 7/10

An improved display from the Croatian centre-back, with Liverpool generally looking tight in defence despite conceding a late goal out of the blue.

Martin Skrtel 7/10

Also good throughout the 90 minutes for Liverpool, though he and his team-mates could do little about the late goal from Jagielka, which was pure inspiration from the Everton defender.

Jordan Henderson – 7.5/10

An energetic performance from Jordan Henderson, who also showed plenty of quality on the ball and looked a threat going forward.

Steven Gerrard 8/10

A much improved display from Liverpool’s captain, who raised his game again for the Merseyside Derby with a superb free-kick to give the Reds a 1-0 lead in the second half.

Raheem Sterling 8/10

A great performance as usual from Liverpool’s exciting young winger Raheem Sterling, who was a constant threat as he popped up on both flanks for the home side.

Lazar Markovic 5.5/10

Handed a surprise start ahead of Philippe Coutinho, youngster Lazar Markovic failed to make a significant impact in this game and was later subbed off for the Brazilian.

Adam Lallana 7/10

An improved display from Adam Lallana, who seemed to shine in a free role behind the main striker for Liverpool, linking up play well and creating chances for the Reds.

Mario Balotelli 6/10

Plenty of shots but little end product, Mario Balotelli could certainly still improve for Liverpool, missing a great chance to score from close range in the second half.
