Expected Tottenham Hotspur XI Against Stoke City: Harry Kane To Start Behind Struggling Spaniard At White Hart Lane

Kane and Soldado among suspected Spurs starters against Stoke.

Tottenham Hotspur may not have been firing on all cylinders recently, but they still go into Sunday’s home game against Stoke City with a chance of recording a fourth consecutive win.

Here’s the team we think Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino will select at White Hart Lane…

GK: Hugo Lloris

The French stopper has been in phenomenal form this season. He missed Thursday’s 2-1 win over Asteras Tripolis in Greece through suspension, but he will return in place of Michel Vorm on Sunday.

RB: Kyle Naughton

Kyle Walker is still sidelined, so it will be either Naughton or Ben Dier at right-back. Dier played in midweek, so Pochettino will probably rotate and bring in Naughton.

LB: Danny Rose

Rose has started all 10 of Tottenham’s Premier League games this season.

CB: Younes Kaboul

Captain Kaboul was rested on Thursday, but he will return to skipper the side.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Vertonghen is competing with Federico Fazio and Vlad Chiriches to partner Kaboul. Chiriches has been woeful this term, while Fazio has been sent off twice in just seven games. The Belgian international is therefore the obvious choice.

CM: Etienne Capoue

Despite being linked with a summer exit from White Hart Lane, Capoue has found favour under Pochettino, starting every league match.

CM: Ryan Mason

Since being handed his Premier League debut against Arsenal in September, Mason has partnered Capoue in Tottenham’s last five top-flight games.

AM: Cristian Eriksen

Eriksen is Tottenham’s go-to guy. He has not been on top form this season, but he is the Spurs player most capable of producing that little bit of individual magic against a disciplined team like Stoke.

AM: Nacer Chadli

Chadli has become a key member of Tottenham’s starting XI this season. His pace and power make him the ideal man to lead counter attacks. Chadli has scored five Premier League goals this term, making him the division’s highest-scoring midfielder.

ST: Harry Kane

After Kane came off the bench to score a late winner at Aston Villa last weekend, Pochettino hinted that a first Premier League start of the season could be imminent. The 21-year-old added to his case on Thursday by scoring his 10th goal of the campaign in the victory in Greece.

CF: Roberto Soldado

Kane performs best when playing just off another striker. His partner on Sunday is likely to be Soldado because Emmanuel Adebayor is a doubt with a hamstring strain.
