Here is the CaughtOffside Team of the Week.

GK – Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea

On the whole it was not a good day for the Blues as they frustratingly drew with Sunderland, but Courtois needed to be in top form to deny Steven Fletcher and Connor Wickham and ensure it wasn’t a loss.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City

A great display from the Argentine at right-back, with Zabaleta comfortable in possession and strong in defence and going forward as City ran out 3-0 winners against Southampton.

CB – Chris Smalling, Manchester United

Often criticised when in a United shirt this was a different display from the defender as Smalling opened the scoring and kept an admittedly poor Hull City attack at bay.

CB – Jan Vertonghan, Tottenham Hotspur

The centre-back was in top form for Spurs as they beat Everton 2-1 at White Hart Lane to earn a vital three points, with Vertonghen looking solid throughout the match.

LB – Aaron Cresswell, West Ham United

The left-back continues to prove he is comfortable in the top tier after a summer switch from Ipswich Town and Cresswell even got on the scoresheet as West Ham beat the Magpies 1-0.

RM – Raheem Sterling, Liverpool

Said to have been lacking form of late it was Sterling at his very best once more against Stoke City as the 19-year-old ran the Potteries ragged in a hard fought win for the Reds.

CM – Michael Carrick, Manchester United

Injured for the start of the season it’s clear that the Red Devils have been missing Carrick since his return as the 33-year-old put in another classy display against Hull.

CM – Yaya Toure, Manchester City

Back to his best for the 31-year-old who after a poor start to the campaign showed what he is capable of at St Mary’s with a well taken strike for the opener and Toure looked strong throughout.

LM – Santi Cazorla, Arsenal

With Mesut Ozil injured the Spaniard has stepped into the role of creative midfielder once again and was on top form as the Gunners earned a much needed three points against West Bromwich Albion.

ST – Wayne Rooney, Manchester United

Two goals in as many games for the Man United captain as Rooney took his international form onto the domestic stage as his side brushed aside the Tigers at Old Trafford.

ST – Charlie Austin, QPR

Completing the attacking line is a striker who has been something of a saving grace for the Hoops so far and he grabbed the winner against Leicester City.
