According to the Mirror the Premier League duo are interested in bringing Cabaye back to England just 12 months after the France international left Newcastle United for PSG in a £19m deal.

Now the Gunners and the Reds have been given further hope in their pursuit of the 28-year-old as Pastore reveals that his teammate is currently unhappy at the lack of first team opportunities at the Parc des Princes.

“I don’t think that he wants to leave but it’s true that we have a lot of midfielders,” the Argentine was quoted by the Mirror.

“I hope he will make the best possible choice for him: either leave to get a game or stay here and earn his place.”

Since moving to the French capital back in January the midfield ace has made 36 appearances for PSG in all competitions, competing with the likes of Blaise Matuidi, Thiago Motta and Marco Verratti for a place in Laurent Blanc’s starting XI.

Cabaye could well welcome a switch back to English football, with the Frenchman knowing the division well from the two-and-a-half years he spent at Newcastle.
