The Northern Irishman is under big pressure to improve his squad after a tough start to the season, and it looks as though attacking players are his main priority as the club still continues to get over the summer departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

Despite a number of links to different big-name players around Europe, it may be that Liverpool will look close to home to improve their attack, as they seemingly line up a double raid on Stamford Bridge.

The two players attracting interest from the Reds are as follows:

1) Fernando Torres

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool are plotting a surprise move to re-sign Fernando Torres from Chelsea this January. The Spanish striker has been highly disappointing since he left the Reds for Stamford Bridge in a £50m deal in 2011, but could be available this winter after his failed loan move at AC Milan. A gamble no doubt, but perhaps a return to Anfield would revive Torres’ flagging career.

2) Andre Schurrle

In addition to a move for Torres, it was claimed by the Liverpool Echo earlier this winter that Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle was also on Liverpool’s agenda in attack. The German international has struggled for regular playing time with the Blues this seaosn, but remains a top talent and one who could provide something different for Brendan Rodgers’ team.
