The 28-year-old had been trialling with the defending champions since December and has signed a deal that will take him through until the end of the 2016/17 A-League season.
Polenz returns to the A-League after a short stint with Norwegian outfit Sarpsborg 08.
The former German youth international spent two seasons at the Wanderers and was part of the side that lost to the Roar is last year’s A-League grand final.
Polenz says he can’t wait to take the pitch for his new club.
“I will bring all my qualities to help the Roar get back to the top of the table again,” he said.
With the A-League taking a break for the Asian Cup, Polenz will have to wait until February 2 to make his Roar debut when his new side take on Wellington Phoenix at Suncorp Stadium.
