Manchester City’s Frank Lampard Given Cold Shoulder By Chelsea Ahead Of Stamford Bridge Return

Sour grapes! Petty way for Chelsea to treat a club legend…

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard is set to be snubbed by his old club Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend despite spending 13 years with the club, according to the Times.

The 36-year-old is widely regarded as one of the Blues’ best-ever players, having made 648 appearances for the team and becoming their all-time leading scorer with 211 goals.

Still, Lampard divided opinion among Chelsea fans when he made the controversial move to rivals City this summer, albeit only on a season-long loan deal from MLS side New York City FC.

The midfield ace has previously explained he was not offered a contract extension by Chelsea at the end of last season and never planned to end up at the Etihad Stadium, though he felt the offer to carry on playing in the Premier League was too good to turn down.

This has not gone down well with the West Londoners, it would seem, with no special events planned for Lampard’s return this weekend as the Citizens arrive in a crucial Premier League clash.

This would go against recent tradition for the Blues, who welcomed back the likes of Didier Drogba and Michael Ballack when they returned with new clubs.
