Fernando Torres – AC Milan to Atletico Madrid

One of the fairytales of football, the return of the prodigal son to his old stomping ground as Fernando Torres went back to Atletico Madrid to try and re-ignite his floundering career. A bizarre six-months at AC Milan meant that Torres needed to return home as a last resort to show glimpses of the quality which once made him one of the most revered strikers in Europe. Scoring against Real Madrid and Barcelona so far this season, it’s fair to say that he’s getting there.

Wilfried Bony – Swansea to Man City

In an attempt to claw back a five-point gap seperating them and the top of the league, Man City went and bought the most prolific player in the Premier League in the calendar year of 2014 – not bad.

Seydou Doumbia – CSKA Moscow to Roma

Doumbia came up against Roma in the Champions League group stage this season, and the forward has decided to join the most likely challengers to Juventus for the Serie A crown. His Ivory Coast team-mate Gervinho has lit up the league since he joined Roma from Arsenal, and Rudi Garcia will no doubt be hoping for the same from Doumbia.

Xherdan Shaqiri – Bayern Munich – Inter Milan

One of shrewdest signings in the window as Inter beat off competition from Liverpool to land the Swiss star who grew frustrated at Bayern Munich. Inter will be hoping to tie the wizard down on a permanent contract as he’s currently on loan, with many clubs potentially looking to move in for Shaqiri in the Summer.

Andre Schurrle – Chelsea – VFL Wolfsburg

The man who assisted the winning goal in the World Cup Final, Andre Schurrle’s stock dropped considerably leading up to January as Jose Mourinho grew frustrated with the winger. Wolfsburg, who also signed Kevin De Bruyne from Chelsea last January, stumped up the cash to bring Schurrle into their impressive squad.
