Liverpool have been dealt a blow in their bid to sign Danny Ings as Burnley may demand more than £6.5m for the player this summer – a record tribunal fee, according to the Sunday Times.

The prolific young forward has impressed top clubs with his displays this season, and Liverpool had hoped to sign him for around £4m in the January transfer window.

Still, Ings is out of contract at the end of this campaign, but Burnley are still entitled to compensation and could land a large amount even if they are forced to lose the player.

A tribunal fee of over £6.5m would break the previous record set when Chelsea signed Daniel Sturridge from Manchester City.
