These players all have a pretty chequered history in football…

A summer move to Italian giants Lazio awaits English attacking midfielder Ravel Morrison, but he will not be playing for a side in between now and then after his contract was cancelled by West Ham United.

Morrison played just 18 times for West Ham in three years and had multiple loan spells following his transfer from Manchester United where Sir Alex Ferguson said he was “better out of Manchester.”

It now appears his attitude problems have got the better of him as he will be without a club until summer, at CaughtOffside we look at the top 10 Premier League bad boys.

Roy Keane

Sent off a total of 11 times in his career Roy Keane never shied away from a tackle. The Irishman was once infamously sent home from the 2002 World Cup after a spat with manager Mick McCarthy and launched into Alf-Inge Haaland in a career ending tackle in the Manchester derby.

John Hartson

Hartson was once caught on CCTV kicking team-mate Eyal Berkovic in the head at West Ham’s training ground. Undoubtedly one of football’s hard men, but his temper did occasionally get the better of him.

Vinnie Jones

No nonsense midfielder who had such a reputation of being a hard man he has made a Hollywood career out of it. He holds the record for the quickest ever booking at three seconds and was issued 12 red cards in his career. Facing this Crazy Gang midfielder was a scary prospect.

Jonas Olsson

Tough tackling defender who was no stranger to a booking. Olsson was embroiled in controversy as he allegedly spat at referee Jon Moss as he gave a penalty against him at Liverpool.

John Terry

Infamously had an affair with team-mate Wayne Bridge’s girlfriend and was found guilty of racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand for which he was fined £220k and banned for four matches.

Ashley Cole

A player who opposition fans love to hate. Ashley Cole was involved in the ‘tapping up’ scandal with Chelsea and was fined £75k before later turning his back on Arsenal and joining the West London club. He was in the tabloids for the wrong reasons as he was caught cheating on then wife Cheryl Cole multiple times.

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez proved to be Kenny Dalglish’s best signing on his return to the Liverpool manager hotseat. Unfortunately for the Uruguayan hot shot though he was never far away from controversy as he was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in a match along with two biting incidents on Giorgio Chiellini in the World Cup and Branslav Ivanovic in the Premier League.

Craig Bellamy

Had many disputes with many players both on and off the pitch, even coming out in a post match interview to say what he thought of John Terry. Bellamy was another player opposition fans loved to hate although he seemed to thrive on that.

Rio Ferdinand

Well known for being loud mouthed both on and off the pitch. Rio Ferdinand was fined £45k by the FA for criticising Ashley Cole on Twitter and was also banned for eight months for missing a drugs test while at Manchester United.

Joey Barton

Infamously assaulted former team mate Ousmane Dabo, punched Morten Gamst Pedersen and had a meltdown at former club Manchester City on the final day of the 2011/12 season where he attacked three players. Joey Barton has also spent 77 days in prison as a result of other behaviour.
