1) Liverpool
Immediately linked with Liverpool as a replacement for Steven Gerrard, there’s no doubt this move could make sense for Wilshere, who may fit in better with Brendan Rodgers’ style of play and benefit from the change of scene.
2) Manchester United
A surprise choice perhaps, but Manchester United need another new signing in midfield, and Jack Wilshere could be moulded into that deep-lying playmaker that the Red Devils need – ie, a long term-replacement for Paul Scholes. With a bit of luck with injuries and the right coaching, Wilshere could become that player.
3) Southampton
With Arsenal chasing Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin to strengthen their options in midfield, it could be that there is some potential for a swap deal here. Plus a move to the St Mary’s wouldn’t be a huge step down for Wilshere given the Saints’ superb rise this season.
4) West Ham United
Another club supposedly on alert is West Ham United, whom Wilshere supported as a kid. With loan signing Alex Song perhaps unlikely to stay permanently after attracting interest from bigger clubs, Wilshere could make an ideal replacement in that position.
5) Everton
With another potential swap deal, Everton could do with a new midfielder as the impressive James McCarthy emerges as another top Arsenal target for their troublesome midfield engine room.
