Despite being beaten 1-0 during the first leg in Ecuador last week, Estudiantes cruised past their opponents in the 2nd leg with no major difficulties.

The Argentines will take their place in Group 7 together with Atletico Nacional from Colombia, Barcelona from Ecuador, and the Paraguayan side Libertad.

Estudiantes dominated from the outset, evidently determined to find the equalizer from the very first minute. The breakthrough came in just the 13th minute when Leandro Desabato tapped in from close range, and ten minutes later Carrillo added a second via a header. In the 51st minute Desabato grabbed his second of the night, and in the dying minutes Arturo Mina Meza scored an own goal to give the hosts a comfortable 4-0 win.

It was a one sided contest from start to finish, and there only ever looked like being one winner.

The group stage starts in two weeks.
