1) Thierry Henry

Back at Arsenal as a coach with the youth team, Thierry Henry is one of the club’s best players of all time and would be a very welcome managerial choice among the Emirates Stadium fans. It may still be a while before the Frenchman is ready to step into Arsene Wenger’s shoes, but it has been reported that that is the aim.

2) Dennis Bergkamp

Another true great for Arsenal during his playing days, Dennis Bergkamp has spoken of his desire to move into management in the future after serving as assistant to Frank de Boer at Ajax to good effect.

3) Patrick Vieira

Currently working as manager of Manchester City’s Reserve team, Patrick Vieira could still revive his ties with Arsenal after serving as one of their finest midfield players ever and a great captain of the all-conquering Invincibles side. A winner on the pitch as a player, that mentality could serve the Gunners well now if they look for a new manager.

4) Steve Bould

Assistant to Arsene Wenger, Steve Bould did well with Arsenal’s youth team when he served as manager until 2012. It remains to be seen if he could make the step up to management at this level, but the former defender could be a good choice after learning from and working under Wenger.

5) Remi Garde

Not much of a player for Arsenal, spending a brief spell as a backup player late on in his career, but former midfielder Remi Garde has made a bright start to management, impressing with Lyon until he left the club in the summer.
