It was a shock result, especially after San Jose cruised past River Plate in a 2-0 win in their opening game, while Juan Aurich were thrashed 3-0 by Tigres.

Two goals in the first twenty minutes from César Valoyes and Christian Ramos were enough to give the hosts the win.

“It’s the first game we played well and won. We had been playing badly and losing” said Juan Aurich manager Roberto Mosquera to pasionlibertadores.com after the game.

“We are surviving with a ventilator. What I hate is to play well and lose. I hope that does not happen in the next few games”
