Lallana will be fully assessed on Monday but will likely be out for at least a fortnight, reports Daily Mirror – though this would only keep him absent for the international break and could see him return in Liverpool’s next Premier League game against Arsenal.

The former Southampton man was taken off at half-time for Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard, who was incredibly sent off just 40 seconds after coming onto the field following a stamp on Man United’s Ander Herrera.

Lallana’s injury follows a tough weekend for Roy Hodgson’s squad with Fraser Forster and Luke Shaw both forced to pull out.

Forster was stretchered off against Burnley during Southampton’s 2-0 win and will be replaced by Rob Green and Stoke keeper Jack Butland.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw will sit out the internationals with a back issue.

England face Lithuania in a European Championship qualifier on Friday and then head to Turin to face Italy the week after.
