Arsenal would be a dream transfer, South American star admits

Internacional midfielder Charles Aranguiz has spoken about news of transfer interest from Arsenal after representing the Chilean national team against Brazil at the Emirates Stadium yesterday, the Daily Mirror reports.

The classy 25-year-old recently emerged as a surprise target for the Gunners, who are said to have been monitoring his progress ever since last summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Aranguiz himself says he knows nothing about an official approach from the north London giants, though he admits it would be a dream to make such a big move to the Premier League side.

“I don’t know anything about it,” he is quoted as telling the Mirror when asked about the rumours after yesterday’s game.

“I’ve heard about it through the press but nobody has talked to me.

“They’re a great team, and it would be a dream, but for now that’s all it is… a dream.”

The Mirror adds that local sources have informed them of regular check-ups by Arsenal on the player, presumably in the form of scouting trips to his club, suggesting a summer bid for the talented midfield player could be on the cards as Arsene Wenger looks for new signings to strengthen in that area of the pitch.
