Evian Thonon Gaillard and En Avant de Guingamp played out a 1-1 draw at the Stade de Roudourou that merely edges both away from the FC Lorient and the bottom three.
Guingamp are in a much stronger position. After 33 matches, they sit in 12th place, having accrued 40 points, five more than Les Merlus in 18th.
Evian, on the other hand, remain in trouble. The Croix de la Savoie are in 17th and following victories for Stade de Reims and Toulouse, remain only two points clear of danger.
It might have been much worse for the visitors, who fell behind just before the break.
Claudio Beauvue was quickest to react at a corner and the sought-after forward bagged his 13th goal of the season.
Soon after the break, Evian responded when Argentine striker Nicolas Blandi scored his first goal of the season after profiting from an error by EAG goalkeeper Jonas Lossl.
