However, there have also been a number of players who continue to shoot without hesitation, but just cannot find the back of the net.

Take a look at the ten worst finishers in the Premier League, including Manchester United and Manchester City forwards, who have failed to score a single league goal, despite trying their luck with 20+ shots…

10. Nabil Bentaleb – Tottenham Hotspur

Shots: 23

PL goals: 0

The Algerian has become a regular in the Spurs midfielder, but should leave the shooting to team-mate Harry Kane having failed miserably with 23 strikes on goal and nothing to show for his efforts.

9. Adnan Januzaj – Manchester United

Shots: 24

PL goals: 0

The 20-year-old has struggled to make an impact under new boss Louis van Gaal, and despite having bags of potential, his performances in front of goal must improve with his time seeming to be running out at Old Trafford.

8. Matthew James – Leicester City

Shots: 24

PL goals: 0

The 23-year-old has tried his luck with 24 attempts on goal, but receiving no reward for his efforts, which sums up the Foxes struggle to adapt to life in the Premier League.

7. Emmanuel Riviere – Newcastle United

Shots: 24

PL goals: 0

Two goals in the Capital One Cup and one assist in the Premier League is all the forward has to show from his season – the £6m striker has been truly woeful in front of goal since arriving in the summer.

6. Patrick van Aanholt – Sunderland

Shots: 25

PL goals: 0

Given his position, the defender can be forgiven for failing to find the back of the net, but the former Chelsea academy star should think about leaving his forwards to do the work up top, and stick to his defensive duties – with 25 shots offering no success.

5. Steven Davis – Southampton

Shots: 29

PL goals: 0

The midfielder has started 29 games for the Saints in their superb Premier League season, and though the 30-year-old has been key to their success this term, boss Ronald Koeman will be glad he can rely on others to deliver in front of goal.

4. Tom Huddlestone – Hull City

Shots: 31

PL goals: 0

The former Spurs midfielder is not known for his goalscoring prowess, but 31 shots and zero goals would be enough to embarrass even the toughest of players.

3. Fabian Delph – Aston Villa

Shots: 35

PL goals: 0

With Aston Villa’s dismal beginning to the Premier League season, it’s no wonder that a Claret and Blue player features on the list. His winner against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final, however, should be enough for fans to forgive the England international.

2. Lukasz Jutkiewicz – Burnley

Shots: 36

PL goals: 0

Jutkiewicz’s woeful stats are symbolic of Burnley’s struggles to adapt to England’s top flight, and they look set for an instant return to the Championship. The Dingles have relied on Danny Ings to deliver up top, but that doesn’t look enough to save their campaign.

1. Jesus Navas – Manchester City

Shots: 42

PL goals: 0

Manuel Pellegrini wouldn’t be unjust to expecting much more from the Spaniard. It’s difficult to fathom how one effort hasn’t reached the back of the net from 42 attempts. Though the winger has registered eight league assists.
