Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has rejected a chance of a swift return to management after turning down the opportunity to take charge of AC Milan once again.

The Italian was sacked as manager of the La Liga giants earlier this month after failing to deliver a trophy at the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

This then lead to speculation that a return to the dugout at the San Siro was on the cards after admitting to the Rossoneri’s official TV station that he had held talks with vice-president Adriano Galliani over a potential return (via Sky Sports).

However, Ancelotti has spent over a week mulling over his future and has decided to press ahead with plans to take a deserved break from football and broke the news via his official Twitter account:

It is no surprise that the Serie A outfit attempted to lure Ancelotti, who led the club to a pair of Champions League titles during 2001-09, back as they have fallen from grace since his departure.

A 10th place finish in the league this year means the Rossoneri will not compete in Europe for the second successive season.
