According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, Barca are suspicious that the 32-year-old has held talks with the Red Devils and could already have agreed terms with Louis van Gaal’s side – despite the player himself stating that his future wouldn’t be decided until after Saturday’s Champions League final.

The Brazil international recently slammed his current club for failing to offer him a deserved new contract, and it appears that he could be on his way to Manchester next month. Fichajes claim that Alves is not seeking a higher wage at a new club, but simply wants to feel valued.

Right back has been a significant concern over the past few seasons for Manchester United; with centre-back Chris Smalling and midfielder Antonio Valencia having to play the position, while Rafael da Silva has failed to impress his new manager [Daily Mail]. Alves, having been a regular in a stunning season for Barcelona, would therefore be a steal on a free transfer – and is almost guaranteed a place in Louis van Gaal’s first-team.

His contract at the Camp Nou expires on July 1 and it is expected that his future will be confirmed within the next few days.
