Arsenal’s form over the course of the second half of last season would suggest Arsene Wenger isn’t a million miles from putting together a squad that can challenge for major honours.

There is growing speculation that Wenger is set to welcome in a few major additions with the trio below said to be close to securing a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Petr Cech (Chelsea): £10.9m

Arsenal’s ongoing move to sign the Blues keeper is expected to be complete in the coming days (Via the BBC) with the two sides having agree a fee for the Czech Republic international.

Though the West London side are probably not enamoured with the idea of selling such a quality player to a domestic rival it appears Chelsea are ready to give in to Cech’s demands out of respect for the decade plus of outstanding service the 33 year old has shown the club.

Faouzi Ghoulam (Napoli): £11m

The highly rated Algerian left-back is reportedly a player Arsene Wenger wants to bring in this summer (Via Metro), which would appear to call into question the future of either Nacho Monreal or Kieran Gibbs, who currently vie for a spot in the Arsenal manager’s starting eleven.

Ghoulam only moved to Naples last year but the departure of boss Rafa Benitez, as well as Napoli’s inability to secure a Champions League berth, could signal a possible exit.

Arturo Vidal (Juventus): £21.3m

Arsenal have been chasing the Serie A star for some months and by all accounts a fresh £21.2m bid is on the cards (Via Daily Telegraph).

The 28 year old is currently away on international duty and the presence of his national team colleague Alexis Sanchez at the Emirates Stadium is thought to be the driving force behind a move to bring the former Bayer Leverkusen man to North London.

Juventus are now ready to sell Vidal in order to accrue funds ahead of a bid for Bayern Munich star Mehdi Benatia.
