Argentina have moved above Germany in the FIFA world rankings after reaching the final of this summer’s Copa America tournament, despite losing to Chile on penalties.

The South American giants also lost to Germany in last summer’s World Cup final, suggesting once again that perhaps FIFA’s system for ranking nations is not the most sound.

Elsewhere, Wales move up to a record-high position of 10th, just one place behind England in 9th.

Other Copa America results see Brazil drop to 6th, with a poor showing in a major international tournament once again hurting their standing in the game today.
