Manchester United could complete the signing of Torino full-back Matteo Darmian within the next 24 hours, according to the Daily Mirror, with the Italian international poised to undergo a medical with the club on Thursday.

The Red Devils have been keen on bringing in an upgrade on current right-back Rafael in that position, with the Daily Express reporting last month that the club were pursuing Nathaniel Clyne after missing out on Barcelona’s Dani Alves, though the England ace eventually ended up joining Liverpool.

Still, Darmian looks another good potential buy for the club in that part of the pitch, with the 25-year-old impressing in Serie A and for his national side in the last couple of years, showing plenty of potential going forward as well as defensively, which should see him fit in well into Louis van Gaal’s fluid system at Old Trafford.

The Mirror now states that United are expected to announce a deal imminently, with Darmian set to sign for a fee of £12.9m on wages of £90,000 per week, with a medical the only formality to get through now before he can officially become a new United player.

With Memphis Depay joining from PSV earlier this summer, it looks like another good transfer window for the Reds, who also made a number of new additions last year under the big-spending Van Gaal, who will be determined to improve on last season’s fourth place finish and mount a more serious challenge for the Premier League title.
