Liverpool & Serie A club in striker transfer deal, agent reveals talks have begun

Reds working on yet another striker deal.

Liverpool could follow up their signing of Christian Benteke by offloading another striker in Fabio Borini, with Fiorentina expected to snap up the Italian flop, according to the Daily Star.

The Reds are hoping to make more space up front after a number of changes in that department in this transfer window, with Benteke joining Ings in moving to Anfield this summer.

This comes after both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert were brought to the club last year in the wake of Luis Suarez’s exit, with the prolific Uruguayan international proving hard to replace in Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup.

There is now almost certainly no room for Borini in the Liverpool team, with the 24-year-old performing poorly in his time at the club so far, which has also included an unspectacular loan spell at fellow Premier League side Sunderland.

Borini has previously shone in Serie A, and it looks like he could head back to Italy this summer after his agent confirmed talks had begun for the player to join La Viola.

“Yes, we have spoken to Fiorentina, but are evaluating everything carefully,” his agent Marco De Marchi explained.

With Liverpool dropping out of the top four last season, it seems just as important for the club that they get rid of players who are not good enough for the club as well as bringing in improvements.
