Walcott new contract: Five signings Arsenal should’ve made instead, including £49m Liverpool raid

Walcott new contract – five players who’d be better value for money?

1) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund)

Another pacey attacker capable of playing out wide or up front, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has just signed a new contract with Borussia Dortmund as Arsenal weren’t quick enough to try to sign him this summer.

2) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

A world class striker who can also operate out wide, Alexandre Lacazette is another superb prospect who could have been an upgrade on the injury-prone and expensive Walcott, who is now the club’s highest earner!

3) Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

A risky buy due to the price, but Arsenal could perhaps have done well to offer Walcott to Liverpool and sign Raheem Sterling before he moved to Manchester City this summer.

4) Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)

Another world class goalscorer from out wide, Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann could have been a superb addition to this Gunners side, but is surely now unaffordable.

5) Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Another expensive signing, but still a whole level above Walcott, Marco Reus is another Borussia Dortmund player who’d have been ideal at the Emirates Stadium.
