Wilshere injury highlights need for midfield signings.

With news of another Jack Wilshere injury, here’s a look at five midfielders Arsenal MUST try to sign before the end of the summer to plug that gap in the middle of the park…

1) Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)

Linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United earlier this summer, Borussia Dortmund star Ilkay Gundogan is a great all-rounder who’d fit perfectly into this Gunners side, and who’d be available for a very reasonable £21m or so.

2) Sergio Busquets (Barcelona)

An ambitious target recently coming up on Arsenal’s radar, Barcelona anchor-man Sergio Busquets would be a brilliant addition to Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

3) William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon)

A fine young player linked with Real Madrid, William Carvalho has also been among Arsenal’s top transfer targets for some time after his hugely impressive displays in Portuguese football.

4) Asier Illarramendi (Real Madrid)

Also linked with Liverpool this summer, Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi would be a fine replacement for Jack Wilshere with his work rate and range of passing.

5) Victor Wanyama (Southampton)

A powerful box-to-box player who really impressed with Southampton last season, Victor Wanyama is a player with bags of potential who has been linked with Arsenal in the past and who looks an ideal fit for the Gunners in midfield.
