Liverpool to RAID Real Madrid and Barcelona for £18.4m duo

Liverpool are set to raid El Clasico rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid for two players to take their incoming transfers up to eight.

The Reds have already signed James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Roberto Firmino, and Christian Benteke, but Brendan Rodgers doesn’t seem ready to stop there. Having finished a disappointing sixth last season, the Northern Irishman likely thinks that a complete overhaul is necessary to get back in to the Champions League qualification places.

To finish off the transfer spree the 42-year-old seems to be keen on Real Madrid ace Asier Illarramendi. The defensive midfielder has been told he can leave the Bernabeu, and is available for £14.2 million according to the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old could be perfect to counterbalance the attacking flair of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino in the middle of the park with his defensive work rate. There is more than just the Spaniard to come at Anfield though…

The Merseyside club are also keen to sign Barcelona youngster Adama Traore. The Blaugrana are willing to let the 19-year-old leave for £4.2 million according to the Metro.

The forward has only played four games for the first team at the Nou Camp, but is highly rated after coming through the famed La Masia academy. Aston Villa and Stoke were keen to sign the forward, but Liverpool seem to have beaten them to the punch.

The Spain Under 19s player is unlikely to start straight away at Anfield if he signs, with Coutinho and Firmino both more accomplished at a senior level. However, the Reds would be able to get one of the best teenagers in Europe for a cheap price, and he could develop in to one of the best players at the club.
