1) Harry Kane (Tottenham)

Linked with a stunning £40m move to Manchester United, City should also be trying to sign Tottenham star Harry Kane this summer, with the England international undoubtedly an upgrade on the likes of Wilfried Bony and Edin Dzeko.

2) John Stones (Everton)

A top target for Chelsea, Everton defender John Stones has also been linked with City at times this summer and would be an ideal new signing to bolster their struggling back four.

3) Ryan Shawcross (Stoke City)

One of the best defenders in the Premier League on his day, Stoke City captain and England hopeful Ryan Shawcross is another homegrown talent the club should really strongly consider as an upgrade on players like Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala.

4) Aaron Cresswell (West Ham)

With Gael Clichy being linked with Inter Milan, City could do well to bring in a replacement at left-back, with West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell believed to be on their radar after some impressive form last season.

5) Ross Barkley (Everton)

One of the best young midfielders in England, Everton’s Ross Barkley is another Toffees star who’d be a good buy for City this summer, though they may already have enough options in the middle of the park.
