Manchester United eye £160m DOUBLE swoop to make MAJOR title STATEMENT

Manchester United are interested in a £160 million double swoop for two world-class players, reports the Daily Express.

The Red Devils have already signed Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay, Sergio Romero, Morgan Schneiderlin, and Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer, but they don’t seem to be finished there. With Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal all fancied for the Premier League title ahead of them, more investment is needed if they are going to catch the trio.

First of all, United are keen on signing Bayern Munich ace Thomas Muller, and have already seen a £60 million offer turned down. The 25-year-old managed 13 goals and 10 assists in 32 Bundesliga games last season, helping his side to win the competition at a canter.

The Germany international also helped his country to win the World Cup last summer, and is widely seen as one of the best players in Europe. If United were able to pull it off, signing the forward would be a major coup.

United aren’t finished there though, with Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale also on their radar. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already seen two bids of around £100 million for the 26-year-old rejected this summer.

However, the Red Devils still hold out of hope of getting their man. The Welshman’s unpopularity with the Bernabeu faithful could be a turning point, with the fans regularly booing him last season. This was despite him scoring 13 goals and assisting another nine in 31 La Liga games during the campaign.
