Chelsea youngster scores winner as Monaco run continues

Chelsea loanee Mario Pasalic scored the only goal of the game on Sunday as AS Monaco defeated Angers 1-0 in Ligue 1 action.

The midfielder fired home after Lacina Traore headed a Joao Moutinho free kick across goal and into the 20-year-old’s tracks.

Pasalic’s goal takes Monaco—who ensured a tough start to the campaign—up to sixth in the French top flight on 20 points. Their opponents, Angers—the revelations of the current Ligue 1 campaign—dropped to third following Lyon’s victory over Guingamp.

Croatian midfielder Pasalic has demonstrated his class so far for Monaco since moving to the club from the London giants during the summer.

The Germany-born midfielder initially joined Chelsea from Hajduk Split in 2014, but like so many young talents at Stamford Bridge, has been loaned out without making his Blues bow.

He spent last season on loan at Elche, and will look to gain some valuable experience as he looks to help Monaco back into the Champions League this term.
