Manchester United send scouts to watch Arsenal target & international wideman who’s worked with van Gaal before

According to reports, Manchester United sent a scout to Portugal on Sunday to watch FC Porto full-back Bruno Martins Indi.

The Daily Mail note that the Red Devils had a scout at the Dragons’ bout against Maritimo on Sunday, a match which the domestic heavyweights won 1-0, with the source suggesting that United were keeping tabs on full-back Martins Indi as well as talented midfield starlet Ruben Neves, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal.

The latter came on for the final 20 minutes of the match, while the former—who was part of LVG’s Netherlands side at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil—featured for the entire match, impressing in a typically resolute defensive display.

Defence has been a problem area for United since the summer, where attempts to bring Sergio Ramos to Old Trafford for Real Madrid failed.

The likes of Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia are full-backs who have all endured injury concerns during the season, while Luke Shaw is a long-term absentee following an injury suffered in a Champions League bout against PSV Eindhoven.
