MLS goal video: Sebastian Giovinco starts his MVP campaign with 2-0 win

Last season Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco led MLS in goals (22) and assists (16) en route to league MVP honors. He started the season right where he left off and is not a leader in both categories after just one match.

New York Red Bulls, the reigning Supporters’ Shield title-holders, managed to keep Giovinco and the Canadian club clean for the first 80 minutes. Unfortunately, an unfortunate foul off a Giovinco corner gave Toronto a chance to take the lead on a penalty, which the Italian striker promptly converted past Red Bulls star goalkeeper Luis Robles.

But Giovinco was not done yet as he also led a breakaway that he tapped to Marco Delgado for a second score to ruin the Red Bulls’ home opener and give Toronto their first win at Red Bull Arena in club history.

Now with 30 goals in the last year, perhaps it’s time that the former Juventus superstar gets a new look from the Premier League – maybe from his former manager Antonio Conte should his former boss get the job at Chelsea…
