Man United star admits he laughs when Louis van Gaal yells at him

There may not be a single player at Old Trafford more eager to become great than striker Anthony Martial. From learning a new position to taking the harshest of criticism with a smile on his face, the French starlet knows he has a lot of work to do to reach his goal.

In an interview with RTL [per the Manchester Evening News], the Man United striker revealed that manager Louis van Gaal often yells at him in an effort to inspire quick improvements. In response though, Martial has learned to laugh it off since he knows the yelling is done in good faith.

“He yells at me,” Martial said bluntly. “It makes me laugh because I know it’s for my own good.”

Martial’s improving and increasing versatility has also earned him the praise of France manager Didier Deschamps. He was awarded his first (of what may be many) caps of 2016 for France last week, earning an assist in their 3-2 win over the Netherlands.

When speaking of Deschamps, Martial said that the French boss was also critical of the way he utilized his talents and demanded more of him.

“He said what are you waiting with the qualities you have? It would be a huge waste,” Martial said. “He came to see his friends. I was there, I said hello and that’s what he told to me.”

Martial has two goals in his last three matches for Man United and won the 2015 Golden Boy award for his strong performances for Monaco and the Red Devils.
