Midfielder expecting wounded Barcelona to come back fighting after Real Madrid defeat

Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Prieto has revealed that he’s expecting Barcelona to come back strong in La Liga following their defeat to Real Madrid last weekend.

Barca were enjoying a 39-game unbeaten run before Cristiano Ronaldo’s late goal handed Real a 2-1 victory to secure an unlikely El Clasico victory on Saturday.

Gerard Pique opened the scoring with a header from a 59th-minute corner, as Barca appeared set to build on their 4-0 victory earlier in the campaign with another victory over their arch rivals.

However, Karim Benzema levelled the contest with an excellent volley before Ronaldo’s fine late effort secured all three points for Los Merengues and cut Barca’s lead at the top of La Liga to six points.

Barca—fresh from their victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday evening—will be desperate to return to winning ways in the league when they face Real Sociedad on Saturday.
