Manchester United great tipped for Old Trafford return as Mourinho fleshes out backroom staff

Jose Mourinho continues to build his backroom team at Manchester United, and is understood to be keen to add Rio Ferdinand to his staff.

The Red Devils won the FA Cup just last weekend, but followed that triumph up by dismissing Dutch coach Louis van Gaal at the beginning of the week.

After intense speculation, Jose Mourinho was appointed at Old Trafford on Friday and now begins the business of rebuilding the north-west giants’ reputation following three troubled years since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho has already begun forming his backroom team, and the tabloid note that stalwarts Rui Faria and Silvino Louro will be moving with the manager to Old Trafford, having previously worked with the Portuguese manager at Chelsea.

Beyond the former Blues pair, the DM note that Mourinho is keen to bring Ferdinand back to the club to aid behind the scenes.

The former England centre-back made 444 appearances for United, winning six Premier League titles, three League Cups, the Club World Cup and, notably, the Champions League in 2008.
