Real Madrid star stabs team-mate in the back by urging president Florentino Perez to move for Manchester United transfer target

So much for team spirit at Real Madrid!

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has been having chats with club president Florentino Perez that could affect Manchester United’s transfer plans in the near future.

The Croatia international is reportedly unhappy with the form of current Los Blancos striker Karim Benzema and has requested a raid on his old club Tottenham for Harry Kane, according to Don Balon.

The England striker has been in lethal form this season, netting 13 goals in 12 games for Spurs in all competitions to spark talk of a big move away from north London.

The Sun claim Manchester United could be ready to spend as much as £170million on Kane next summer, but Modric hopes Real can bring him in as an upgrade on Benzema.

The France international has just two goals in all competitions this term, with Diario Gol recently claiming he could even be offered to Tottenham as part of any deal for Kane.

Either way, things don’t look great for Benzema’s future at the Bernabeu right now, but United won’t be happy either if it means they miss out on the chance to land Kane for themselves.

Where next for Harry Kane?

The 24-year-old looks a player who could break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record, and would surely find scoring opportunities even easier to come by if he were to move to Old Trafford.

United already have Romelu Lukaku up front after bringing him in from Everton this summer, but Kane would arguably be an upgrade – as long as they give him Augusts off, that is.

Real president Florentino Perez is reported by Don Balon to value Modric’s input highly, and it could be that this chats behind Benzema’s back will seal the Frenchman’s fate in the Spanish capital.
