Arsene Wenger has been given a boost regarding the fitness of Mesut Ozil, as the Gunners boss could have the German back for his side’s clash against Huddersfield on Wednesday evening.
This is according to the Metro, who state the 29-year-old resumed first team training on Tuesday after sitting out his side’s game agains Burnley on Sunday due to illness.
The news outlet are reporting that the player looked alive and kicking in training, however it will be down to Wenger as to whether the former Real Madrid star will feature for the north London side on Wednesday.
Since Ozil’s arrival in north London from Madrid in 2013, the German international has impressed Gunners fans with his technical ability and eye for the game.
In 171 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side, the former Werder Bremen talisman has managed to score a total of 33 goals, with the player also managing to bag himself 60 assists in that time as well.
The player’s best campaign for Arsenal so far came last season, as in 33 league appearances, the midfielder managed to score eight and assist 10, an impressive record.
So far this season, Ozil is yet to hit the ground running, as the maestro has only managed three assists and a goal in 10 games for the Gunners, something the player himself will most likely to be happy with.
Ozil often gets criticised for being lazy, and is often seen as a player who is unwilling to track back when his team are not in possession by fans and critics alike.
