According to bookies Ladbrokes, Arsenal are the favourites to sign both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in the summer transfer window.
Both players face doubts over their futures at Old Trafford after some unconvincing recent displays and with United linked with new defenders in the transfer market.
Smalling was first targeted by Arsenal in January while Jones is now also emerging as a target for the Gunners as they look to improve on some unconvincing defensive options of their own.

Toby Alderweireld nearing exit – FULL STORY
Tottenham players reportedly fear Toby Alderweireld is nearing a departure from the club as he stalls on signing a new contract.
Manchester United are among those to be keeping tabs on the £25million-rated Belgian, who has been one of the best defenders in Europe in recent times.
It seems Alderweireld has no future at Spurs and could well be United-bound this summer.
David de Gea responds to exit rumours – FULL STORY
Finally, David de Gea has attempted to cool rumours over his departure from Manchester United, though it’s not entirely convincing.
Not ruling anything out, the 27-year-old simply said he is focused on United for the moment.
‘I don’t think it’s ever good to discuss the future or what may happen,’ De Gea told the Daily Star. ‘Only the present, feeling well, playing well and helping United is important.’
