Video: Gareth Bale’s spectacular goal not enough for a half time lead

Posted by

First half goals from Gareth Bale and Guido Carrillo couldn’t separate Real Madrid and Leganes going into half time of the La Liga encounter.

Gareth Bale opened the scoring 17 minutes into the game following some great build up play by Los Blancos.

Sergio Ramos launched the ball wide to marauding full-back Dani Carvajal who headed across to Gareth Bale who scored with a great half-volley.

Bale’s goal was his seventh consecutive goal in La Liga. Bale looks to be Real Madrid’s new ‘main man’ following the shock exit of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus this summer.

Madrid’s lead was short-lived when on loan Southampton striker Guido Carrillo scored from the penalty spot after defensive midfielder Casemiro conceded a penalty.

Guido Carrillo’s penalty conversion was the first goal to be scored against ‘galactico’ goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who made the switch to Los Blancos this summer from Premier League giants Chelsea.
